Vidalia native Reid A. Threlkeld earned his B.A. from Mercer University in 1969 and his J.D. from Mercer in 1975 and was admitted to the Bar that same year. Reid returned to Vidalia in 1976 and began practicing law with the late Bill Darby and Charles Andrew. In 1980, Reid and Charles Andrew formed the Law Offices of Andrew & Threlkeld, P.C. Reid concentrates his practice on business and corporate matters, banking law, real estate, estate planing, local government law, and personal injury. Reid has served as the city attorney for Vidalia since 1978. He is also legal counsel to the Toombs-Montgomery County Development Authority. In the area of banking law, Reid serves as general counsel to Vidalia Federal Savings Bank. In addition, Reid represents Georgia Farm Bureau in civil litigation all over southeast Georgia.

Reid is admitted to practice before all state trial and appellate courts in Georgia, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Georgia, the 5th and 11th U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He has been awarded an AV™ rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the preemminent legal rating organization in the United States, for many years.

Reid is an active member of the Vidalia Kiwanis Club, where he served as president, and the Vidalia First United Methodist Church where he has served on the Board of Trustees, the Administrative Board and the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee. Reid has served as an officer of the Toombs-Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, the Altama Mueseum of Art & History and the Ohoopee Regional Council for the Arts (ORCA).

He and his wife, Sheri, have a daughter, Lindsey, a graduate of Georgia Tech who lives in Washington, D.C., and a son, Alex, a graduate of Mississippi State who is a PGA golf professional.
